Nyarko Nendoroid photoset

Here's a quick one I did in between the crazy rain fall today with Nyarko. I'm not particularly a fan of the show but I think Nyarko herself is pretty cute (especially with her Kamen Rider fixation).
I have more plans for shoots with her in the future ^^

I really like that you can change her 'ahoge' to fit her expression ^^

wiggly! humph!

General life rambling 20/10/13

I've been really busy lately and I'm struggling to find time and inspiration for my huge backlog of figures that I'd like to photograph. Also with winter just around the corner there isn't much opportunity for outdoor shoots (which my camera copes best with). I've just never gotten on with my camera indoors. It's just an SLR type point-and-shoot so it's nothing super special but I don't seem to be very good at controlling the shutter speed let alone anything else manually. It just feels awkward? It doesn't help that I don't have the instruction manual either....

A few of the figures I have to shoot are more spring types too, all I can visualise is flowers blossoming around them heh. I will just have to try with what I can.

Next weekend I'm attending MCM London Expo (London Comic Con) so there will be (hopefully) lots of photos from that to post including cosplay shoots of my own cosplays as well as my boyfriends' and my friends'! I'm really excited, mostly because it means a hotel for the weekend for just me and my man. But obviously also because it means meeting up with lovely people we know and getting excited over merch that's hard to get hold of at the event. (plus voice actors & tv stars etc if you're into the celebrity culture, I'm not....)

I'm mostly excited about Good Smile Company coming over, I'm really hoping they bring some more exclusive figures with them. Possibly the yukata version of Madoka Kaname!?! (because it's not like I have three nendoroids of her already...)
It is really exciting to know there'll be a few legitimate stalls selling goods there. I'd like it if MCM started cracking down on all these people coming over to sell fake goods like they do at Hyper Japan. Then I think I could respect the event a whole lot more! It would fully deserve the title of 'Comic Con' then....

Moving on, I took a few photos of my Yuki Nagato figma the other day (the first ever figma made!) but the poor lighting made it very hard to focus and produce any good quality photos... I'll share the few that did make me a bit happy. (I'll probably re-do this concept again though. I took one pic on my phone and it looked better than my camera ones!!)

Quite elegant in some poses....

I was really tired when I was editing these so I went a bit crazy... but the character is an alien who can manipulate space and time so I think this weird edit is acceptable.

This is a small part of my to-read pile....(everything behind it is to read as well....)

And here's the one I took on my phone....

Azusa Nakano nendoroid

Here's just a little collection of sudden inspiration photos I took earlier today with Azusa. I've had her for about three years now I think and I've never taken any photos of her (that I can recall anyway). Since my cat was snoozing on my bed it struck me that it might look cute with Azusa accompanying him ^^

Azusa herself is a lovely, simple and cute (naturally) nendoroid. She comes with her guitar, an amp, three expressions and a little cat. No overly complicated part or lots of fiddly little bits. The stand for her has cat ears on it which I found adorable but it broke really quickly... I don't think I'm that heavy handed either, I'm glad the nendoroid stands have improved a lot in the past few years now. It means it is a bit hard to display her but I can improvise easily! Plus since she has twin tails they help prop her up. One of the expressions she comes with I'm not the biggest fan of and it's not featured in these photos. It's just my personal preference. It's a sort of "nyaaaaa moeeee" type face and I just found it a bit cringey... I really like her natural smiling expression though, she looks really warm and happy ^_^

(Please pardon the low quality of the images, bad indoor lighting!)

Sitting with a sleeping Sparky
Her little 'nyan hands' as I call them are rather sweet. The cat ears are removable of course.

A-Ahhhh, his paw is so big ;;;;

So cute! Azusa is getting really curious exploring the sleepy, fluffy giant.

Big kitty, little kitty

Full profile with her guitar and that dinky little amp!

Can you see how warming her expression is? I never fail to fall hard for nendoroids, they're little cute forms are irresistible.

Portrait

Last one.... I have so much to learn about lighting in photos but I did what I could to improve it whilst editing this one. I tilted her head to see how she's look and I nearly squealed because it made her look really dreamy...

Kamui Gackpo nendoroid

I have a whole back log of figures I've never taken any photos of so I thought I'd start to try and work my way through it. I wanted to photograph Gackpo yesterday but it was so windy I could barely stand. Today it's very gloomy so the light is not great and I couldn't finish because it was starting to rain. I hope Gackpo isn't cursed... I did get a few nice photos though I think so I'm happy to share them for now and I'll take more in the future ^^

Standing proud....
I'm very happy with the above image, it's exactly what I'd envisioned ^^ Gackpo looks stunning and elegant I dare say in his hakama. The tiny details on the patch on his left sleeve are carefully painted, not a single smudge! I really like his eyes too, he's not the most masculine of vocaloids but who cares! those eyes are beautiful <3

Fan detail
Nothing out of place on the fan. Gackpo's colour scheme is deliciously crisp and stands out.

The swordsman...

His katana is translucent so when it's sunny (it isn't today) it glows and looks far more beautiful than it looks here. Also, can you believe a man could have such perfectly painted eyebrows? ;)

Mischievous face! FU WA HA HA

This alternate expression is great, he's ready for action and fun! I went back to the fan again here, I really like it.....

Hu a ha ha ha haaaa!
Last one! I'm not sure if he looks determined or a little scary holding a katana with that expression.....
There are more poses and another expression I haven't shot yet but I shall soon!

Mami Tomoe figma

Mami Tomoe is my favourite character overall in the Puella Magi Madoka Magica anime. This charming figma was a gift from a very nice person ^^ Again these photos were taken earlier this year when there was still a bit of blossom in my garden. The Tesco delivery man caught me laying on the grass with her & a camera lol!
I generally find figmas to be quite awkward and despite the nice poses on the box they are difficult to pose yourself. I think the fact that I love this character and that she has an elegant air to helps me see past this and find this particular figma a pleasure to have.

I have white lilac growing all over one side of my garden and I think it compliments her really well.

You can move the curls slightly to help with posing her head plus the hat is detachable.

This particular face she comes with I like the most, it can be tender or just happy and confident if she's handling a pistol!

Beautiful blush on her face...

Yosuke Hanamura "Captain Ressentiment"

I picked Yosuke up back at MCM London Expo in May this year for about £20 I think. Hopefully that wasn't too overpriced for him.. This is from the Persona 4: The Ultimate in the Mayonaka Arena collection. I haven't played the game as it's not my type of game but I'm a Persona 4 fan so I was happy to have a Yosuke ^o^

Epic Sky Pose!

I was a bit confused at first because in the artwork both his kunai are pointing to the left but if you turn round his (detachable) right hand it pretty much blocks out his face haha! I think I will have to glue in the right hand though because it's not a very snug fit, I've had several "where did Yosuke's hand go?!" incidents now. It always turned up somewhere really awkward and I'm too lazy to keep looking ;)

Some facial detail here. The painting is pretty good, no weird smudges or bumpy bits. I feel the tips of his hair are a bit too rounded instead of pointy and defined. But that's just me being fussy I think :)

The kunai are so big :o

You can't quite see it here but I like how dynamic his jacket looks flapping at the corners. It really helps bring his mid-action pose to life!

Super Epic Sky Pose GOOOOO!

Last photo is another sky one but I love it more because of the plane trail in the sky! Plus you can see the awesome jacket here. The folds in the shoulders of the jacket look realistic and generally the proportion of the whole figure is spot on!
I should probably re-edit this to get rid of the yellow reflection of his stand though...

Princess of the Crystal nendoroid

I thought I'd upload a few shoots I did earlier in the year. I uploaded these to tumblr but I don't really use my blog on there much anymore.
So first up I have my Princess of the Crystal nendoroid! She's from Mawaru Penguindrum (if you didn't know heh) and though not my favourite character she looks pretty cute but badass (??) in nendoroid form. Plus there's the adorable little penguins that come with her, I'm a sucker for penguins...

Onwards to capture the penguindrum!!

Her eyes are so pretty, as always with nendos the detailing is perfect and really brings her to life!

I wonder where they will go next....

I'm not that sure about how nendoroid scaling works, are they set to a particular scale? I certainly know figmas aren't, hah.

Here they are! The three little cuties!

Don't they just looks so tiny and perfect?

I missed the focus on this shot though, sorry!

They all have perky little tails and tufts on their heads. It's a shame they don't come with a stand of some sort though, it was hard to get them all to stand up...

Ahaha I can't remember quite why I photographed this detail but here you go! She has super frilly bloomers under that epicly huge skirt.

Itoshiki Nozomu nendoroid

Another nendoroid that arrived recently is the lovely zetsubou sensei 1.5! I've been dreaming of having him for a few years now, any opportunities that had arisen to get the previous version proved far too expensive (min of £65 I'd found). So you can imagine my joy over pre-ordering him back in late May this year.

Andrew helped take some photos of Itoshiki today, I tried my best to show all his cute features!

Serious face ( ' w ' )
The glasses are attached to the fringe so there's no worry that it'll fall off and disappear somewhere unknown forever.

All set for work with his notebook (class rosta?) and briefcase.

Some detail on his hakama, so beautifully painted.

Look at that lovely little face!

D-Don't call me the Pink Supervisor,,,,

Nozomu has been pushed over the edge again.... The rope noose is an interesting addition, I couldn't ever feel comfortable hanging him up anywhere continually though. He's too cute to be that sad. Mr Despair Fight-O!

Argh an apple that rotted before it had even fallen off the tree!!

Yukiko Amagi nendoroid

This lovely arrived today! She came in about a week via air mail packet from Japan. I got her second hand for about £13.50 which is a great deal as she's in flawless condition! I took a few photos of her with Andrew's help this afternoon, enjoy!
